Most of what we hear know about Madison was his fighting with Alexander Hamilton in the early days of our nation, so it is strange to think that a group of settlers from the eastern edge of Lake County decided to name their village after him in 1815. Obviously, at the time, he was a popular and inspiring presence here in Lake County.
